М-bus (Meter-bus) is a new European standard for remote reading
of tax instruments and different types of sensors. The reading
is accomplished by several different methods - from direct reading
of current indication of the instruments to fully remote reading
of all devices in the net by GPRS technology. The use of M-bus
interface allows fully electronic reading of data with all the
benefits of it. М-bus supply converters are the basic device,
and all the net is build on it. They have the following functions:
- supplying m-bus net and power supply for slave devices
- provide data channel for data exchange between slaves and
main reading device
- serve as a 'bridge' to connect slave devices with main reading
device (such as PC, PDA, etc.)

Generally we offer two types of m-bus masters: for small
networks up to 32 slaves, and for big networks up to 250
slaves. Both types have RS-232C interface. Via RS-232C serial
interface they interact with the extern device for reading
- directly personal computer or through one of our converters
(USB, IrDA or GPRS transceiver). We can also offer M-bus
repeater for doubling physical dimensions of the network
up to 500 slaves. All types of M-bus masters are powered
from standard power supply 220/230 VAC, and they can work
without problems down to voltage of 170 VAC. Outputs are
protected to short circuit and high voltages.
MBRS masters, produced by Gineers, can be connect to some
kind of converter or directly to personal computer using
RS-232C serial interface. We provide different kinds of
converters to be flexible according to user needs:
- RS-232C - USB full-duplex converter for connecting MBRS
to personal computer's USB-port (supports USB 1.0, 1.1,
2.0)
- RS-232C - IRDA full-duplex infrared converter for connecting
MBRS to IRDA-interface or PDA, usually notebook
- GPRS-transceiver with RS-232C interface for building
fully automated system
Special precautions are taken to avoid eventual attempts
of data manipulating, read by the devices. For that purpose
M-bus supply units do not record any data - they are just
transceivers (except some service data). The service data
is written once by the manufacturer or when installing the
device and setting the system.
