Wireless m-bus repeater battery-powered RPT230bat

Wireless m-bus repeater

Wireless m-bus repeaters are intended to re-transmit data from wireless m-bus meters or sensors. This is often needed inside or outside big buildings, where meters are with wireless m-bus. Since wireless m-bus is on 868MHz frequency it is dependant on distance and obstacles. Usually around 300 meters direct view are not a problem, but building materials, sensors/meters position and their transmission strength are also very important. In order to use only one main collecting concentrator in bigger buildings or in wider open spaces user must use signal repetitors. Since sometimes is not possible to use external power supply we offer this battery powered repeater. That is what our repeater do - re-transmit with full power possible meters that are in range. Differences between this and old battery version, is that RPT230bat is more like plug-and-play device. In 95% of the cases user would not have to set anything, just install the repeater and turn it on. What can be set for this repeater is work hours every day (from 1 to 23), starting work hour and current datetime (in order start hour really to be the one we want). Internal clock is precisely calibrated in the factory, but it is possible that user experience something around 5 to 10 ppm clock drift per year. This means around 5 to 10 minutes deviation yearly. Repeater battery is calculated to provide around 5 years of work, if the repeater is active 2 hours every day. The idea of working at least 2 hours/day is to overcome clock deviation, if syncronising with main concentrators/collectors is important. RPT230bat works in modes T, S, C and T+C. Modes can be set with wireless m-bus device (like WMR-IoT) and our service software, by default repeater is shipped in T+C mode.

When shipped repeater is in sleep mode. Must be turned on by pushing internal button on the board, as described in User Manual.

Normal mode of operation

Repeater works only exact number of hours every day. In this period repeater retransmits every received telegram in the air. We use our own algorithm to avoid ping-pong of the telegrams between repeaters. After the work hours pass - repeater goes to sleep in order to preserve batteries. The internal clock is still operating, so next day repeater will wake up and start normal work again at the hour set.

When shipped repeaters are completely set in SLEEP mode. In order to start receiving telegrams repeater must be turned ON by phisycal interventation - described in the User Manual/ Repeater can be put back in sleep with a command through the air.

Settings is made with dedicated free software, through wireless m-bus dongle, like our WMR-IoT v2 (https://www.gineers.com/en/products_remote_wireless_wmriot.php). If other vendor transceiver is used - please ask us for details, transmission protocol and instructions.
